We have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award!

We are delighted to announce that we, The Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School, have achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in
2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognized for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include:

Year 5/6 Girls Football Area, Town and County Champions, Year 5/6 and 3/4 Football League Champions, Year 5/6 Quad-kids Champions and spirit of the games winners, Cross Country 4 race winners and 3 team shield winners, Tag rugby League winners, Netball Silver medalists and Hockey Bronze medalists. with many more too long to mention!

Provided over 52 sports clubs and entered over 20 competitions this year giving a record number of children opportunity to enjoy Physical activity in extra curriculum time. Becoming a Wildcats Centre for girls only to come and play Football.

Created new club links with KJFC, NFA, Steve Biss, Sport Connections and Uni of Northampton.

With a total of 140 young people competing in local inter-school
competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of
participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that
the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

A special thanks to:
Ben Pearce and Paul Flanagan of School Sport Specialists who facilitated the whole school PE provision this year.

We look forward to applying once again in 2019!
