Autumn 2016

We are already starting to plan our topic for next term which is Moon Zoom.

To support this new topic we have arranged a WOW day on Thursday 5th January 2017.

Children will be expected to take part in a variety of activities arranged by the school staff. We would like to invite the children to dress up as something with a space theme. This could be a character from a book, a film or just something to do with space that they have created themselves.

Thank you for your continued support.

KS1 Christmas Play

Our Christmas play this year was ‘Children Around the World’. The children performed to the parents on Wednesday 7th December and Thursday 8th December. The play was about bringing all the countries together to celebrate the birth of Jesus. The children all worked well together. We were really proud!

 Baptism Talk with Father Brendan

Father Brendan came into school to teach the children in Year 1 and Year 6 about Baptisms! Take a look at our lesson by clicking on the picture above!

The children in Year 1 will now get homework on a Friday which will be due in on a Wednesday morning.

It will alternate between english and maths. This weeks is maths so next week the children will have english homework.

We have also given you the Red Tricky words which the children are expected to be able to read and write by the end of Year 1. Please could you help them practise these words by doing a few each week?

You also have a copy of all the phonic sounds which by the end of Year 1 they need to be able to recognise and sound.

 Abington Museum Visit

As part of their ‘Memory Box’ topic, Year 1 had a special visitor in school this Wednesday!

Hannah from Abington Museum brought in lots of different old toys. After being shown the toys the children had the chance to play with them!

Meet the Teacher Evening - 28th September 2016

On Tuesday 27th September 2016 18.00-19.00, there was a Key Stage 1 (Yr1 & 2) open evening. This gave parents the opportunity to find out about what goes on inside the classroom and a little bit more about school life at The Good Shepherd.
