 Maya Archaeologist Visit

Year 6 enjoyed a visit from a Maya archaeologist, Dr Diane Davies on Wednesday. What did the children think?

… ‘ It was very interesting and I learnt a lot’. ‘ I was fascinated by the artefacts we saw.’ ‘I found out things which I didn’t know before’.

 National Science Week

To mark National Science Week, years 4, 5 and 6 took part in a Forensic Workshop in school on Thursday 16th March.

SAT's Information

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you to everyone who attended the KS2 SATs Meeting last Thursday. For those Parents/Carers who were unable to attend this letter covers the main points of the meeting.

At the start of the meeting we watched a video clip which explains what will happen during SATs week.  We would encourage you to watch it below:

During SATs week we will run a Breakfast Club for Year 6 which is free to attend.  It starts at 8am in the morning and as well as providing breakfast it gives the children an opportunity to chat to friends and to calm the nerves!

During the meeting a query was raised to why the children were being asked to change how they form their numbers, in particular crossing the digit 7.  It was explained that all letters and digits have to be clearly formed as the test papers are marked by computer.  The crossed 7 could then be read as the digit 4 and could potentially be marked wrong.  However once the test papers are returned to school we do go through them and check for any errors in marking.  Papers with errors are then returned to the test board to be remarked.

Below is the timetable for the SATs week.  Please encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep during this week.  Please ensure that any appointments do not occur during test times.

If you have any further questions please speak to either Mrs King or Miss Green.
