Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)

Catholic Schools, like all other schools in England, are required to produce a written policy following the guidance issued by the Department of Education (DfE) on Relationships and Sex Education (RSE). Catholic schools are required to deliver RSE in accordance with the teaching of the Church.  This approach is compatible with the guidance issued by the DfE.

RSE is part of the mission of Catholic schools to educate the whole person.   It should be carried out as part of the holistic education which seeks to form as well as inform young people in preparation for adult life.

We are currently in consultation with our parent community with regard to our new RSE Policy.  Please read through the policy below and if you have any comments, questions or feedback, email to admin@thegoodshepherd.northants.sch.uk with ‘RSE FEEDBACK’ in the subject.  The consultation period closes on Monday 11thJanuary, 2021 at 3:15pm.

Please also find a parents’ guide to ‘A Journey in Love’ which is the whole school scheme that we use to teach here at The Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School.
